After fighting the good fight for the past few days, I've decided to go quietly into that good night. It would be even quieter if I didn't have to run this mickeymouse ceramic heater at all hours. Cold, you ask? Cold? I take the dogs out and am surprised that their pee doesn't instantaneously freeze them to the ice and snow that covers the driveway and its surroundings. It's GODDAM TUNDRA here. I was told that I should watch this movie because it starts out with the main character working in an icefield on a gulag. Yes, I should watch that. B/C things can always be worse.
Always.
When I'm not outside freezing my nostrils off, I continue to sift through a massive amount of data I'm researching for a white paper tentatively titled: "Eyes on the Prize - and the Purse: Marketing to Boomer Women in the Post-Apocalyptic Economy." Catchy, no? Huff Post, are you listening? I'm willing to overlook the whole AOL thing.
Hey, I love writing about things that are near and dear to me, and figure I am one of many experts on the demo that only recently (and historically) stopped doing things like whipping out their Visa card to buy a $500 pair of Jimmy Choos, and started doing things like trying to figure out how to anonymously sign up for food stamps. But something cheers me about this project. It's that I'm learning stuff. Stuff that is facts, not feelings. Numbers not buzz. Scary stuff, to be sure, but better than chasing down dark and dank gigs at places that feel like a David Lynch movie, without the David Lynch magic.
What a wacky time to live through. Many wonder if we'll make it. I wager we will. Humans are notoriously hard to kill.

What about starting some kind of gig related to blogging for money? (to address the rant post)? I know nothing about your profession but I know Cindy LaFerle is doing some of the online journalism thing and teaching some writing online. Just thoughts- hopefully they feel supportive even if ignorant! We'll survive as long as we don't have some kind of regressive cave man- tea party revolution- that's what scares me right now! Wish I could help- Hugs across the snow and ice tundra:)

Starr, you are a bright light in a dark wilderness. Those are great ideas. I've already submitted my pitch to a continuing ed school for teaching writing for marketing, online and off. But I should check in with Cindy. I guess there's always room for one more chickee who knows how to wield a pen - or a keyboard...
:-) Thanks again for your faith. Means alot.
